Monaco is the world's second-smallest country, a glamorous principality clinging to the rocky hillside above the French Riviera and famous the world over for its Formula One Grand Prix, its legendary casino, and its dazzling concentration of wealth and luxury. Despite its tiny size, it packs in a remarkable amount: the Oceanographic Museum founded by Prince Albert I, the magnificent Palais Princier, and some of the most exclusive restaurants and hotels on the planet. The views from the Rock of Monaco across the Mediterranean and into the surrounding mountains are simply spectacular, and even a short visit captures something of the unique atmosphere of this singular city-state.
